One of a Kind
Some of you may have looked at a prior version of this ornament. I wasn't completely satisfied with how it looked and decided to "rework" it.
I got the saddle at this wonderful dollhouse miniature "garage" sale. It's made of leather, realistically crafted and just wonderful. Full disclosure - there are some signs of wear.
The base is wood. I located a picture of a horse running in snow, reduced it, duplicated it and used this to cover the top and bottom then sealed them with decoupage. Keeping with a western theme, I wrapped string around the edge.
I decorated the tree with a string of plastic lights and topped it with a metal western cowboy hat that even has a sheriff's star. The focal piece, the saddle, is tied to the tree. The finishing touches are the rocking horse and the touch of humur is a mock up of a bag of Grow Magic Instant Horse.
The ornament hangs by very fine fishing line.
